Random Ramblings!

Now that I have a rhyming, stupid title to my blog, which may seem to some as a vain effort to write something cool, lets move on to the real purpose of this post. It has been a thoroughly busy week, no make it fortnight. I have been downright busy since the 19th of nov. and look at the date today, its 29th. ten days have gone by in a whiff. Lets go chronologically here, timeline is very important 19th to the 20th of november 2009 - The H.O. had planned a special training workshop for its team in shimla, that would be my colleagues and me. this workshop was supposedly to train us in some documentation system designed to keep tabs on the project progress, its activities, the actvities and progress / performance of the people working on the project, the sub-agencies ad infinitum. Altho the manual said it was to be used for betterment of the program and those working for it and not as a policing tool, I fail to see how a system basically designed to keep tabs and checks on all te st

A Really, Really, Really I say, Busy, Busy Week!

I cant think of a title for this post as yet. Maybe as I proceed further something may crop up to my mind. A week gone by very rapidly. A lot of stuff happening. An equally lot of stuff has happened and predictably a lot of stuff to happen and do in the coming months. Our project launch event which was also supposed to be an interaction meet amongst the various stakeholders of the program ran quite successfully, with the exception of the accounts settling affair. I am sure most persons who have had to deal with the accounts departments in the corporate sector will agree with me when I say, accounts departments are more headache than maintaining the accounts themselves. Whatever, after slogging for 20 days, the last three being slogging without sleep, and moving endlessly on the actual event day trying to keep things streamlined, I finally heaved a sigh of relief as the program finally got over... But why during the program was anybody who had any complaints, coming to me and giving m

Finally a place to call my own!

After what seemed like ages, I have finally secured a rented accomodation in Shimla. It is surprising how difficult it is to find a decent place on rent in shimla. First of all the crazy gradient and hilly terrain makes it virtually impossible to have a house with access to the road. Road acess, which is called 'drive in' around here is a premium luxury item. Add to that the odd terminology of one room set or two room set, which canbe translated as 1BHK and 2BHK. Another thing i noticed here, which would surprise any maharashtrian, is that having just one bathroom in the house is almost sacrilegious. there have to be as many bathrooms as there are bedrooms, so a house with 2 bedrooms and one bathroom is a big no-no... the guy must be really poor. :) But after much huffing and puffing and calling friends at all hours, I finaly found a place to stay. A nice 1BHK, with a decent kitchen, a good bathroom , good fittings, although on the highway (noisy) and on the second floo

SHIMLA pics again

Here we go, a few more of shimla pics, may be I ought to start a new blog for this very purpose.....:) Now this is what i call dangerous living. the houses are simply too much, more on this tomorrow:P Now thats the view from my office, cool na?notice how the houses are all built on the slopes, these are all connected by zig-zag, steep roads, barely enough for a 800! need to put that here too! :) another cool view!

Life is good to me!

For the past few weeks, I have been feeling so elated and fantastic like I have never felt before. Good things have been happening to me and how! And to think it all started with me coming to Delhi in September with the Ganesh Idol I had forgotten back home. In one weks time, I had a new job, a good one, add to that a posting in Shimla and the final cherry on the cake. She said yes! Thank you god! I never thought I would say this again after 2007, but Life is good to Me.... yet again!

A few more pics of Shimla

Some more pics of Shimla taken today, dont mind the date, my camera clock got reset :D     In this picture, on the hill in the centre, 2 white bldgs, at the centre bottom of the group of buildings is where my office is. took me 45 minutes to walk, but what a lovely walk!
My first views of Shimla, Man is this place beautiful!!!! More to come soon...

The roll of the dice...

This is the second entry under the same heading... for reasons beyond my control, i was unable to complete the post in one single sitting. Its weird how the road of life goes, you never know whats beyond the next corner, sometimes you don't even know there is a corner or an intersection until you actually get there. Something similar happened  when i was on vacation. suddenly I was at a new crossroad. A crossroad I was expecting but not so quickly... Well, it was a fruitful, relaxing and wonderful vacation that left me nervous and apprehensive about the future. New decisions, new doors opening, new people entering my life, some doors closing... and a sudden change in perpective.. The folks were happy to have me, luckily Hans was there too, we had a great time together. felt so good to drive around Goa sitting behind the wheel of the car. Some developments have opened a lot of questions... questions like what have i been doing with life, just fooling around or really looki

The roll of the dice...

Ah yes! The strategy of it all. I have just come back from a week long (short actually) break from home. Felt so wonderful to go home and breathe the fresh air and greenery of Goa.... Yes I could actually breathe in nature, after staying 4 long months in Dilli. The first thing I did was to rush to the bar and restaurant and have a ton of squid and fish and have a quiet relaxing drink at a reasonable rate, unlike the establishments in Delhi. Add to that the incessant rains and the power cut at the hotel. the ambience was perfect, an exact opposite of that in Delhi... so serene.... Now i am back in Dilli and not very happy about it, think it was too short a holiday, i think my folks concur.

The Truth behind the Miraj (Maharashtra) riots : Which the secular media ignores

ll Har Har Mahadev ll Truth behind the Miraj (Maharashtra) riots : Which the secular media ignores On 3rd September 2009 Muslims in Miraj (Sangali, Maharashtra) took objection to a scene which depicts the slaying of Afzhal Khan and started rioting. Their strategy was to immediately destroy 3 Lord Ganesh idols and then beat Hindus in the area. Tense situation persists even after 2 days. The National and International media have turned a blind eye to these unfolding events ! Here are the facts .....   Muslim youths stonning Ganesh Idol of Maharana Pratap Ganesh Mandal   Kindly visit the news link for details news and also to see videos http://www.hindujagruti.org/news/7785.html Muslims desecrate three Ganesh Idols & there have been attacks on Hindus at many places in Miraj (Dist. Sangali). Reason for Riot is the scene erected which depicts the slaying of Afzhal Khan. Muslims attacked the Police with sticks & stones. The Police arrested the Shiv Sena

Chandigarh Massacre

Ha Ha!! Another meeting with the G-men. This time with those of the SEIAA committee of haryana. Well project one of 3 got through after some stumbles. While projects 2   and 3 fell flat on their face. The reason being.... now don't get me started. Firstly anm over enthusiastic architect who kept spilling his guts and allowing the members to find flaws. (although I tried to cover up most of them). Secondly, a very poorly and illogically made EIA, I mean who in the world has seen a Rain Water Harvesting Pit that can recharge at the rate of 160 cubic metres per hour. Thats like pouting water in the sahara. well, many more flaws later the committee has torn the entire report apart and now we have to submit a reply as soon as possible. I knew from the day I was assigned that the projects were doomed. the proponent turned on me, the members of the committee turned on me as a consultant. I mean come o what can i do, i got barely a day to go through the project and I cant change the va
No title for todays entry. I have but a smug face when i think of the mgmt of GRC. i dont think they ever gave in to the demands of any employee before. But I huffed and I puffed and i got my 15 days overtime. Hooray! Monday I go to Chandigarh, an SEIAA meeting, I know nothing of the projects I shall e presnting, but yet I have been chosen to represent them. Why? I do not know. Well, a one day picnic. Maybe I will go to see the Sukhna lake.

Corporate Greed! Another example!!

Bad day today. I have been working extra hours in the mornings before office starts since the 21st of august. Today when my paycheck is due the mgmt tells me, they pay overtime only for hours worked late (after 7:30 pm), not for hours worked early (before 10 am). How convenient. The *&*(&*&^%^%$$#% could not tell me that when i was coming in early everyday. Why was I not informed of this supposedly mgmt policy when joining? Just so they can get free work out of me. How greedy can these guys get? No wonder the commies have so much popularity, still I am not a commie. But i do feel sympathtic towards them... for now! I lost almost 15 hours of overtime pay. I will bid my time. I will get even... someday!

The good you do...

Today was a really good day! It seems there is justice in this world after all, even if it is dished in small amounts. I can be quite cynical and quite the sceptic too. but today changed all that... I recently swapped my CDMA Samsung phone for my mom's phone, cause the phone is dual sim and heaven knows why I need two mobile connections. Well the new Tata Indicom sims wouldn't work on it, so i go to a mobile phone shop. the technician tells me it will cost me 400 smackaroons to crack the phone plus I have to leave it with him for a whole day. with all due respect to all communities, I frankly don't yet fully trust Delhites. so I declined and took my phone to a nearest Samsung authorised service station. It seems a minor software update will do. but will only work with Tata Cdma cards. Ok. fine, I get it done and they don't charge me a thing. cool, but i lose a half day at work. then i go to the Tata Indicom guys and they replace my damaged sim for free (i tried to

Adi Reloaded!!

A long long time since my last post. A lot has happened since the time I had posted the last entry in May 2008. Well I had sort of forgotten I had created a blog and here is another attempt. A resolution takenm this August means I will be more regular in posting to this blog Sitting in a small 2 room, ground floor appartment in kalkaji, Delhi - a look back on the past year is not possible, but what I time I having right now.  New job, new place its fantastic. i do miss idyllic and serene Goa, but then Goa does not have employment to offer to me does it now?   I have decided to be here at least 2-3 years before moving on to greener pastures ;) so I have my bike here, will be posting a few pics soon.  Still I havent been moving about much, not even 10% of the must see places in Delhi. This must say something about my work schedule. Its hectic, but enjoyable, when i can needle my seniors by simple fact that I know more than they do, which is blatantly exposed everytime they open the
